Step UP for 40 Challenge

This is a fundraising project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of UPAAA-NSW. Funds raised will be used solely for scholarship grants to academically deserving UP students who require financial assistance to complete their studies.
OUR STORY
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Australia – New South Wales Chapter (UPAAA-NSW) is one of the early Filipino organizations established in New South Wales and also one of the oldest UP alumni chapters recognized outside the Philippines.
Founded on the 1st of March 1980 in Sydney, UPAAA-NSW aims to (1) assist its Alma Mater in the fulfillment of its mission as an academic institution, (2) assist in the development and welfare of alumni in Australia and in the Philippines, and (3) foster socio-cultural development and interaction between the Association and the Australian community.
UPAAA-NSW's main project is its Scholarship Grant which sponsors the education of academically deserving but indigent Filipino students enrolled in the University of the Philippines. The Grant covers the scholar's monthly stipend as well as book and transportation allowance. The awardees are selected in accordance with the rules and conditions set by the UP Scholarship Office (Diliman, QC.) and the formal agreement between UPAAA-NSW and the Office of the UP President. The Grant is specifically targeting UP students who are in the midstream of their academic program but cannot complete their academic requirements because of the adverse impacts of financial hardships of their family, or unexpected calamities such as natural disasters and the COVID19 pandemic.
Since 2008, UPAAA-NSW has assisted 10 scholars (from various UP campuses) toward their graduation. This would not have been possible without the financial contributions of our members and friends. Take a look at the messages from some of our scholars on our website .
THE "Step UP for 40" TEAM CHALLENGE
All the team members need to do is run, walk, dance, swim or do their preferred exercise activity in sets of 40 minutes per session. Team members will be posting photos of themselves in action or screenshots of their personal activity tracker app to show their progress. The team’s goal is to reach the target amount of $3,000 by the end of 2020.
UPAAA-NSW Team Members, your personal challenge starts now! Every 40 minutes of exercise you complete will not only make you fit but also affirm your commitment to support UPAAA-NSW and its scholars.
Help us continue our Scholarship Grant by supporting this project!
