Sterling Joseph Scott
Loving son of Susan
2 . 25 . 76 -------
Burlington, Iowa --> Baltimore, MD -->Austin, TX - - > Raleigh, NC
Sterling found out he had testicular cancer (99%) after a semi-routine ultrasound, while alone on July 6, 2020. He had surgery at UNC on July 9 to remove his left testicle .
After CT scans, extensive labs and biopsy of his testicle he was diagnosed with Stage 2B Pure Seminoma Testicular Cancer on July 27. Everything happened so fast. Sterling's a very talented musician and his talent had the attention of "The Voice" but life has a way of throwing us curve balls (or 'ball') sometimes.
Sterling started chemo on August 3, 2020. His chemo regimen consists of 5 days of chemo (etoposide and cisplatin) for 4-8 hrs per day. He then gets 2 weeks off to rest. He has 4 cycles of this regimen or 12 weeks weeks total. Sterling's prognosis and others with Stage 2B Pure Seminoma is excellent long term - 96% survival rate. We could not be more thankful!

As soon as he's back in action I'm sure he'll be back streaming live most days - learning new songs, adjusting sound and "practicing out loud!"
If 5,000 people give his birth mo/yr ($2.25) he'll be 75% towards four, new, music-sangin', cancer-killing bottom teeth. THANK YOU!!!
Kicker is, in October 2019, for once in his life, he decided to take a chance and become a professional musician and he was successful - making connections, buying equipment, booking gigs and pursuing music on a national level. Then COVID-19 changed everything. Bars and restaurants closed, social gatherings stopped and his income dwindled to nearly nothing. He used this time to learn new skills - like Learning to Loop, playing 100's of LIVE SHOWS ONLINE to fans and designing a professional website (SterlingScottMusic ). Then came July 6/D-Day/CANCER day.... and everything changed.
Thankfully Sterling has AMAZING insurance through the Exchange with BCBSNC. His medical bills are manageable. But, after being hospitalized with Neutropenia on August 16 due to extreme mouth pain, a very low WBC count, low platelets and a fever, the doctors advised his 4 lower front teeth have severe gum and root damage and he needs implants ASAP in order to reduce the chance of severe infection. This is something his medical insurance does not cover - and well, he can't share his beautiful voice if he doesnt' have all his chompers... The UNC dental team has advised the cost to have the 4 teeth replaced with implants and crowns will be upwards of $15,000.
