Save Sulayman's Life: Immediate Medical Support Needed

Hi! My name is Ian and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Sulayman Sano.

Sulayman lives in the village of Sarre Mawdo in the Gambia. He contacted me about a month ago asking me to contribute to the fundraiser he started to drill 3 boreholes and create wells for his village. His people are suffering from the lack of access to drinking water and their crops are suffering from the lack of water as well. We talked on the phone, he sent me lots of pictures. It was immediately clear to me that this young man loves his community dearly and will do everything in his power to uplift everyone at the same time. I strongly believe he will continue growing into a strong, honest, and dependable community leader. I feel extremely called to continue developing this friendship with Sulayman and stand by him as he does his extremely important community work, and I hope after reading this, you will to.

Yesterday, Sulayman told me he contracted Malaria and had to go to the hospital. The travel was hard on his body, and he collapsed outside of the hospital and woke up like this.

We were able to secure the funds for his initial admission to get him a bed and basic treatment like fluids, but he really, really needs further treatment or else he will lose his life. This is EXTREMELY urgent!!!

Here’s the gist:

We need to raise $800 in 3-4 days to get Sulayman treatment. The doctor said he can keep him in the hospital until then but he really needs some kind of payment to order the medicine.

Here are the details of the situation:

Sulayman called me this morning and I talked to one of the doctors caring for him. The doctor said that Sulayman told him what he’s doing for Sarre Mawdo, explained our friendship and how I’m assisting Sulayman with fundraising, and the doctor explained that he is willing to buy us time and raise the money to treat Sulayman. Doctors in the Gambia work for the government, and everything is checked very thoroughly. Treating Sulayman without payment could cost this doctor his job. The medicine Sulayman needs is not kept in the hospital, it needs to be paid for and then retrieved from where it’s stored. The doctor said that if we can pay for half of the cost, he can order the medicine and buy us time to raise the rest. He said he can keep Sulayman in the hospital and personally pay for his food for 3 or 4 days and try to keep him alive. The total cost will be $1500, so we need to raise $800 in 3-4 days. When we raise $800, we will raise the goal to cover the remaining amount.
