Rebuild Sunnyfield Brick Oven Bakery

Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Bread Lovers All,

We are starting to rebuild our brick oven this week, February 12, and will be back in operation by mid-March if everything goes as planned. Many of you have asked how you could help financially. In the wee hours of December 8, our brick oven failed. It was 15 years old, and we expected that it would serve us twice as long but instead the arch collapsed onto the hearth. Our oven was the heart of our operation. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we fed it wood; every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday we fed it our proofed loaves and its magnificent, retained heat baked the dough into bread; we oriented our days around its rhythm. With the oven’s demise, our everyday bread-making has come to a halt.

To stay in business, we need to rebuild so that we will be up and running by spring and ready for what promises to be a busy summer of bread, pastries, and food!
