Sunset Park Puerto Rican Day Parade

Donation protected
Dear Compañeras y Compañeros,

El Grito, Inc. is proud  to announce The 2nd Annual Sunset Park Puerto Rican Day Parade and Festival. This year’s parade will feature traditional carnival processions originating from pueblos (towns) in Puerto Rico. We are very excited to organize this year’s parade with your support! Last year’s parade was a historical success  drawing more than 8000 spectators without any incidents. We proved that we can stand together in unity and peacefully congregate. Last year’s Inaugural Parade and Festival received many headlines in local and citywide news media , describing the festivities as being very safe, colorful and vibrant . Join us in keeping and celebrating Puerto Rican culture and traditions, celebrating Sunset Park, and celebrating what a community can do for today and the future when we all work together.
Sunset Park, Brooklyn is recognized as one of the oldest predominantly Puerto Rican neighborhoods in New York City. Thanks to the participation and contributions of our community, Puerto Rican Day celebrations in our neighborhood can turn from a history of being viewed as a disturbance to a community empowered to know and celebrate its culture without provocation or escalation.

As a local non-profit organization, dedicated to the social uplift of communities spearheaded by community, El Grito continues to celebrate by organizing this year’s parade and festival which will feature local artist, businesses, and organizations that will proudly march down our Quinta Avenida/5th Avenue followed by an amazing full stage concert of Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba y Plena at the top of Sunset Park’s Sunset Park.

The Parade will be Sunday, June 12th 2016 starting on 59th street and 5th avenue (Brooklyn) at 5pm. The parade will continue down 5th avenue into a Festival in Sunset Park (marchers enter on 44th and 5th) beginning at 7:30pm.
Get involved now!  Your donation will help us pay for musicians, stage costs, sound equipment rental, promotional material, insurance, and a private ambulance service for our safety during the festivities.

OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE $5,000  WITH YOU AS AN OFFICIAL SPONSOR
