Support Ginny & John in Remembering Baby Jack

December 13, 2021: Change in support /needs -
Sadly, Jack succumbed to his illness after a long, hard fight, on December 11, 2021. He was safely wrapped up in the arms of his parents as he moved on from this world to the next. He bravely navigated the waters at UCSF for seven months, impressing us all with his resilience and grit... Honestly, I would never describe a baby as having grit, but Jack truly was full of it.
Ginny and John are taking time to grieve and be with one another. They may be holding an open house but details are not yet available. Please continue to show your love and support while giving the family space to grieve. If you would like their address, please message me privately.
The GoFundMe fundraiser is still active and you may continue to donate as you wish. Proceeds will continue to be put towards expenses incurred over the last seven months as well as any arrangements in the future.
I will continue to update with any information regarding services/paying respects/needs of the family. Thank you again. The circle of support surrounding this family is truly remarkable.
*****
Some of you may know me- I'm Shelby, Ginny's best friend. I started this fundraiser to help support Ginny and John during their beautiful son, Jack's, hospitalization for his heart conditions.
Jack was born on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021. Shortly after his birth, doctors discovered several heart defects and he was transferred to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco. Jack has remained admitted there and has been under the care of an extensive team of medical staff.
Jack has had multiple surgeries and procedures and his condition has waxed and waned throughout his hospitalization. He recently suffered some major setbacks and is currently fighting for his life.
We all desperately want to help, but unfortunately there is not a lot for anyone to do at this point except be a loving, supportive presence for Ginny and John.
The other thing that we can do is help with the financial implications of Jack's prolonged hospitalization. The monthly cost of just travel to and from the hospital is approximately $700/month. Only one parent can stay with Jack overnight so someone goes home nightly. Fortunately the hospital covers meal costs, but with Ginny and John not working (or working minimally) so they can support their son, costs are adding up. They will also have medical bills to deal with (they are insured but will have significant out of pocket costs).
If we can collectively reduce their financial burden, Ginny and John can focus their efforts completely on their son's care. Any amount would be most appreciated.
