Hi, my name is Louise and I am the founder of Ahimsa Animal Sanctuary UK.

Ahimsa is a new micro Sanctuary in Essex, home to rescued pot bellied pigs, in a beautiful rural setting. We have big plans to rescue more pigs as we expand, and to create a dedicated area for chickens and turkeys rescued from the brutal animal agriculture industry.

After creating the Sanctuary from scratch in 2023, which was expensive, time consuming and a very steep learning curve, we have now rescued more pigs who had nowhere else to go, and now have 9 residents.

This is amazing, but our costs have doubled since last year as a result.

We have created this fundraiser to help with everyday costs of ensuring all of our residents are living their best lives, and to start preparing the construction of a new enclosure to rescue some ex-battery hens.

This is very exciting as it will enable us to offer a forever home to more animals in need.

Our vision and mission: The Sanctuary name comes from Ahimsa, the ancient Indian principle of nonviolence which applies to actions towards all living beings. It is a key virtue in Indian religions like Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Sikhism. Here at Ahimsa we apply this principle to all human and non human residents and guests, we have created an oasis of loving kindness and calm, in a beautiful setting.
