Laura's FOSS4G conference travel support
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Laura Mugeha from Nairobi, Kenya.
I am a student undertaking Geospatial engineering and a part-time geospatial analyst and developer. I have also worked with several tech communities as a coordinator, events planner and digital marketer.
I am passionate about achieving sustainable development especially locally and within Africa. This, therefore, means that the projects and work that I get involved in are majorly focused on people and well-being.
I am currently working for Sanergy as a fellow and African Women In Technology as a coordinator and previously for Map Kibera Trust. I am also a super volunteer for the Office of the Youth Envoy(African Union), Techfugees: an organization promoting the use of technology to solve challenges that refugees face and OSM Africa a regional network of OpenStreetMap communities.
I hope this gives you a brief summary of who I am and what I do.
I love attending events and conferences as they are good platforms to learn, share and network.
However, attending these conferences especially international ones can be costly and attendance is fully dependent on financial support.
I'm therefore raising funds to attend the annual FOSS4G conference. These funds will cover my airfare($1000) and the required travel insurance($100) to Bucharest and back home in August. My proposal(Developing a web-based roads maintenance management system)to present at the conference was accepted.
Thank you SO much for your consideration and support.
NOTE: To contribute via M-PESA send to the PayBill number: 714777 and account number:0714329717.
