Dive Rescue Ice Training and Equipment
When a loved one goes missing under water, seconds can feel like hours. Fast rescue diver response can make the difference between a rescue and a recovery. The Region 5 Dive Team is the group responsible for dive rescues and/or recoveries in 43 of the northwestern towns of Connecticut. Five of these towns-Bantam, Morris, Middlebury, Terryville, and Thomaston-participate in the Region 5 Dive Team. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) and receive minimum funding from these five towns and are in need of your help to stay funded. This funding will allow us to maintain and upgrade our equipment in order to pass inspection and have the proper equipment needed to bring a loved one home. Our dive team donates hours of their personal time in just technical training and practice to stay efficient, safe, and certified. We donate our time and we need your donations so we can continue to dive, rescue/recover and reunite loved ones.
We are one team out of three in our area. We perform mutual aid to outside Regions also. Peter Bergamo’s rank is Captain, Diver for this team.

“ I have heard from Mayor Bob Chatfield of Prospect and Emergency Management Director Tom Eighmie of Seymour, both expressing their appreciation for the assistance and how we as a Region should be proud of the Region 5 Dive Team. ” John Field
