My name is Sakhile Matsenjwa, I`m 25 years old and I want to make a difference in my home country Eswatini (Swaziland).
I will make this happen by combining
(1) My experience from mainly growing up in an orphanage, owned by a non-profit organization (Bulembu Ministries)
(2) My work as a youth and scouts group leader, and
(3) Holding a life changing letter from Prairie College Canada in my hand: a scholarship for a training called “Diploma in outdoor leadership”, containing a full financial support for the tuition (CAD$13,430). Teachers from Prairie College encouraged me to apply for this program during their visit in Bulembu and after seeing my work there.
This training will provide me with a spectrum of skills and experiences which will help me accomplish my vision: With God in my heart I would like to equip the next generation of Swaziland to live their life and purpose to the fullest using outdoor leadership. I believe this can be done by setting up Scout groups and youth centres all over Swaziland.
I am grateful for all the people who changed my life for the better, providing me with education a home and love. I want to pass that on to the kids of Swaziland and the youth who need someone to show them the joy and beauty of life. My heart is passionate about them as they remind me of who I once was. I love to create and be challenged by new projects and ask you to bear this with me as I am going to explore the treasure of outdoor leadership and it`s transformational power.
After a one-year-training, I will be able to understand outdoor experimental learning better, so that I can utilize these techniques in Swaziland (having the possibility to extend to a second year). There is a lot of potential to bring good change and input into my country, by making the next generation aware of the beautiful game reserves, mountains and rivers. I want to use all of those resources to empower people to live physically, mentally and spiritually healthy.

About me
In the past I worked with and was very involved in the Youth Department at the Bulembu church in Eswatini. I felt a lot of joy working in an international team of people from Europe, Swaziland and North America. My responsibilities included overseeing music groups, youth nights, holiday programs, etc. In 2018 I took over the leadership of the boys and girls Scouts Outpost in Bulembu where I mainly focused on organizing the programs there (such as teachings for the young leaders, camps, hikes, and so on). At the beginning of this year I moved away from Bulembu to work toward my endeavour to go to Canada.

How can you help
I am grateful for the assistance of the tuition, but the amount of money required to make this dream a reality is substantial; and, far greater than anything I could ever realistically come up with on my own (Visa, flight, boarding on campus etc.). I am reaching out to you to ask for your help. Below you can find a budget that provides a fuller picture of the finances I still need to secure to be able to participate in the program. One thing I have learned it is that when you need help you should never feel too ashamed to ask for it.
Supporting me financially (Deadline: end of March, 2021)
Fundraising details:
Swaziland is not supported by GoFundMe which is why the money will be going through one of my German friends and previous co-workers. It will then be transferred to Prairie college directly. This campaign is run through her GoFundMe account.
Creative support
If you have any other creative ideas how you think you could help me, please share them! Perhaps your friends or Church would like to share this on their social Media? Maybe you have ideas about some job possibilities before or during my stay in Canada? Perhaps you need help fixing something or someone who plays music at your restaurant or church around Edmonton or Calgary? A guided hike tour (to the highest mountain) in Swaziland? Ideas or suggestions for my newsletters? Anything else?
Additional questions? Contact me and check me out here
Social media will be the platform for regular newsletters and posts, so follow me if you are interested. If you live close to Three Hills and you would like to have a coffee with me at some point, I would love for you to reach out.
