Support Shannon's Healthcare Mission in Guatemala
Tax deductible
Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to share that I will be returning to Guatemala in March 2025 to participate in a medical outreach program organized by Global Healthworks Foundation (GHF), a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that provides integrative healthcare services to underserved communities, domestically and internationally — all at no cost to the patients! Being part of GHF's volunteer team has been immensely rewarding, and I am grateful for the chance to one again contribute to their twelve-year legacy of serving those in need.
I rarely ask for financial support. However, this is a great opportunity for me to “give back”. I would be very appreciative of your financial support to help cover my out-of-pocket expenses for this wonderful experience, which shifts healthcare with kindness and compassion.
GHF’s Spring-2025 “jornada” (medical mission) will target the communities of Santa Cruz del Quiché and Chichicastengo in the Northwestern region of Guatemala. Our team of highly skilled healthcare practitioners will provide acupuncture, therapeutic bodywork and cupping therapies, natural herbal remedies, rehabilitative body movement exercises (e.g., qigong, yoga), nutritional counseling, Reiki energy healing, psychological counseling, and more to upwards of 200 patients per day. In addition to direct patient care, we will train local health promoters to empower their communities with sustainable health practices.
To gain insight into its impactful outreach efforts, please watch this short video highlighting the achievements of GHF's volunteer outreach team this past October: Jornada de Salud Integral Gratuita
Your generous tax-deductible donations to GHF will directly support my airfare, ground travel expenses, and accommodations in rural areas. Any surplus funds will be utilized to purchase children's and adult vitamins, as well as other essential treatment supplies.
Thank you in advance for your unwavering love and support.
With gratitude,
Shannon
P.S. More Information:
The indigenous populations in the Northwestern region of Guatemala face significant barriers to accessing modern healthcare. Their daily lives are physically demanding, often involving manual labor or subsistence farming, with limited access to nutritious food and clean water. Consequently, many suffer from chronic pain and illnesses such as diabetes, dysentery, hepatitis, asthma, bronchitis, skin conditions, parasites, and malnutrition, particularly among children.
