Support Summer in her Fight Against Kidney Cancer

Please join us in supporting and rallying for our sweet Summer and her family. She recently shared her story on Facebook describing the unintentional discovery of a cancerous mass on her left kidney. Summer went to the ER for inexplicable stomach pain in late June which turned out to be Diverticulitis. It was during the CAT scan that the mass on her kidney was discovered. Pre-Op went well this past Friday and a Surgical Nephrectomy (left kidney/adrenal gland removal) is scheduled for this Friday, July 19, 2019.
Summer works for a small company in the lumber business and, although she loves her job and the opportunities it has afforded her, the company does not offer health insurance or sick leave. Therefore, every bit of this journey will be self-paid. We have put together a rough estimate of the potential medical expenses including the procedure itself, anesthesiologist, 3-5 day hospital stay, prescriptions, and follow up appointments. All of this will be key to her recovery; however, the estimated cost will be upwards of $45,000.00.
She will also be off work for 2-3 weeks and will not see much of a paycheck during this time. Summer and Mark have four children that they work very hard to support and love unconditionally. The family is setting a goal of $10,000.00 to hopefully get through the initial stage of this journey. If we reach or exceed this goal, I know it will be a tremendous relief to this sweet family.
We are so thankful for God’s timing with her stomach issues, otherwise it would have likely gone undiscovered indefinitely and the outcome could have been much worse. We are also thankful for the speedy timing of the discovery and next steps that are taking place to save this precious mommy’s life.
We are praying God moves many hearts to pray for and support this family in any way possible. No matter how big or small, we are forever grateful and thankful for every single gesture. Summer has specifically requested prayers for her medical team, the procedure itself to go smoothly, her speedy recovery, and for her entire family who are still in shock over this news. She has also asked to please be added to your prayer lists at Church and at home.
The procedure is scheduled to begin at 7:15 am cst on Friday, July 19, 2019. We will post a new update once surgery begins and we receive information from the medical team. We will also continue to post updates to keep everyone informed of her progress.
Thank you all so much from the very bottom of our hearts for you prayers and support during this difficult time.
Deuteronomy 31:6– Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
