Allow me to introduce you to my dear friends, Scott and Teresa. They reside in the Gulf Harbors community in New Port Richey and, like many others, have been profoundly impacted by Hurricane Helene.
To say they were affected would be an understatement. The home they have cherished for years, which once belonged to Teresa’s grandparents, is now nearly uninhabitable. While the structure remains standing, the interior has suffered extensive damage.
Their front yard resembles a war zone, littered with ruined furniture, bedding, coffee tables, and rugs. Essential appliances, including their refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer, and even a brand-new stove, are now completely inoperable.
As you walk through their home, the destruction is evident; the hardwood floors are utterly devastated, and a water line measuring one to two feet reveals the extent of the flooding throughout their residence.
Regrettably, their home is no longer livable.
Scott and Teresa are acutely aware that they are not alone in this devastation; many others are enduring similar hardships. However, due to the ongoing insurance crisis in Florida, they are underinsured and will likely receive little to no assistance from their insurance provider.
Although they are hesitant to ask for help, they recognize its necessity. They are reaching out for your support to help them return to their home.
Currently, they estimate that it will cost approximately $50,000 to restore their home and replace their lost belongings. We have established a GoFundMe account to facilitate this effort.
Any assistance you can provide would be immensely appreciated. No contribution is too small, as every dollar counts.
Scott and Teresa are incredibly grateful that they, along with their neighbors, are safe, but they are eager to rebuild their lives. Please consider supporting them in this difficult time.
Additionally, we kindly ask that you share this message with your friends and family. Thank you and may everyone find their way back to normalcy soon!
