Rodriguez, Alirio (1951 - 2021)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Alirio on May 11, 2021, at the NHS-St. Catharines Site. He was the devoted husband to Dora Maria for 22 years.
Alirio's personality, spirituality, and a strong commitment to the community made him a special man. He was kind to everyone he met, loved to meet new people, and devoted to his home. His motivation was his wife and family in Colombia. He always had smiled at the difficulties that life threw at him.
He spent his life serving the Lord and volunteering. He was a proud member of St. Kevin's community in Welland and the Catholic Hispanic Community in St. Catharines. He ensured that the Hispanic community in Welland were able to celebrate Mass in Spanish every Sunday and volunteered for many years at the St. Kevin's food bank as well as bringing communion to the sick at the hospital. He was essential at helping migrant workers in Niagara in their re-settlement by collecting food, clothing, offering them transportation to make them feel welcome.
Due to his high empathy, it was never necessary to ask Alirio for any help. He was always ahead and ready to lend and a hand without asking. He and his wife traveled hundreds of kilometers to visit their friend when they were sick, to bring food and comfort.
Alirio loved nature and sports. He ran every day and had incredible energy. He was an exemplar worker with high work ethics, he worked for years as a carpenter until the last days assembling cabinets for Cabico.
He left a mark on all of our hearts.
He will be terribly missed by Dora Maria (wife); his family in Colombia, especially Luz Dary (daughter), Carolina Rodriguez (daughter), Raul Hernan (grandson), Alfre Aldahir Pinto Rodriguez (grandson); and all family and friends from Canada, Colombia, and Nicaragua.
Dear community, family and friends. It is with deep sorrow that we say good bye to our dearest brother Alirio, who lost the battle to Covid-19, a disease which took him away from us in short time. At his age, he still had a lot of time to live and share with us. He leaves his beloved wife behind, who besides having lost his partner in life, will have to face part of the funeral charges and her own expenses, despite her poor present health conditions as a consequence of Covid.
Alirio was a generous person from his heart, who was always present to help those in need in different ways. Let us show all of our generosity towards his wife, in return for all the good deeds that they both, have given to this world.
We thank Cabico, the company where Alirio was working, who generously donated a percentage of the funeral expenses.
Thank you in advance.
Querida comunidad, familiares y amigos.
