Support Mel's Funeral & Bring Mom to Say Goodbye

My name is Isabel Perea, and in memory of my beloved brother, Juan Manuel Perea Cadavid, I am starting this fundraiser to help cover the funeral expenses in Los Angeles following his unexpected passing. Additionally, the funds will support my mother with the costs of a humanitarian visa and her travel from Colombia, so she can be here to give my brother the dignified farewell he deserves.

Last Friday, August 23rd, we received the heartbreaking news that my brother, who we affectionately called 'Mel,' had taken his own life on August 9th, 2024, at the young age of 22. Though he had a bright future ahead of him, he chose to seek his own light and peace.

My mother, who is currently in Colombia, has begun the process of applying for a humanitarian visa so she can come to the United States to join me in this difficult moment and say goodbye to my brother.

I trust that with the generosity of those who can help, any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in Mel's farewell. We will be one step closer to giving Juan Manuel the goodbye he deserves. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Mi nombre es Isabel, y en memoria de mi querido hermano Juan Manuel Perea Cadavid, estoy organizando esta recaudación de fondos para cubrir los gastos funerarios en Los Ángeles tras su inesperada partida. Además, los fondos ayudarán a mi madre con los costos de la visa humanitaria y su traslado desde Colombia, para que pueda acompañarnos y darle a mi hermano la despedida digna que merece.

El pasado viernes 23 de agosto, recibimos la devastadora noticia de que mi hermano, a quien con cariño llamábamos 'Mel', decidió quitarse la vida el 9 de agosto de 2024, a la corta edad de 22 años. A pesar de su juventud y todo un futuro por delante, decidió ir en busca de su propia luz.

Mi madre, quien está en Colombia, está solicitando una visa humanitaria para acompañarme en este difícil momento. Con tu apoyo, esperamos encontranos pronto y poder darle la despedida que merece.

No estaba preparada para enfrentar algo así a mis 18 años, pero confío en que, con el apoyo y la generosidad de cada persona que pueda contribuir, estaremos más cerca de darle a Juan Manuel la despedida que merece.
