Support the Web Directory of Ethical Dog Trainers

We are the Humane Training Alliance, a group of dedicated dog trainers and animal welfare advocates looking to provide consistency in an unregulated field. Modern science and the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists support the use of positive reinforcement, fear free training techniques, yet there are still many trainers using force, aversion, and pain on dogs every day. Owners trust that these trainers are using proper techniques and helping their animals, but these harmful tactics can create additional behavior issues, increase fear, and strain your relationship with your dog.
The Humane Training Alliance is working to create a state-wide database that will list trainers who only use science based, positive reinforcement training techniques. Each trainer's credentials and experience will be verified by our team of volunteers who hold certifications in dog training as well.
This project is to provide a service for the public and help dog guardians find reputable, safe dog training. When "dog training near me" is typed into a search bar, there are often harmful, outdated, and uncertified "trainers" claiming to be able to help your dog. Even some certified trainers will recommend using pain and disproven dominance theory tactics on your dog during training.
We all just want what is best for our dogs, but it's difficult and confusing to find a reputable trainer. Support the Humane Training Alliance in our mission to make finding the right dog trainer more simple and less risky for dog guardians.
The project so far has cost $1,500, and projected costs for the first year are $5,000. We have a web developer on board for the first year and have monthly costs for the website and database plug-in. We are also planning to distribute fliers and information to shelters, vet offices, and pet stores across the state. We hope to start with Michigan and later expand to the entire midwest, then the entire country. Distribution, managing the website, and approving trainer applications will be completed by our group of dedicated, unpaid volunteers.
We would love to thank you on our website's supporters page, unless you'd like to remain annonymous. Non-profits and companies donating may be eligible for their logo to be placed on our website. Would you donate to help loving dog guardians find the qualified help they need?
