Help Jesse Jr's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello

As some of you already know and with a heavy heart, my son Jesse Jr was shot during a home invasion in providence Rhode Island. on May 23, 2024, three men broke in through a third-floor empty unit using the outdoor stairway. Jesse's roommate initially mistook the whispers upstairs for workmen working in the 3rd floor empty unit, only to discover it was the intruders planning their attack.

The intruders used the back stairway to enter the first floor from the third floor. where Jesse shared a place with two other hard-working roommates. They then barged into the apartment wearing face mask and gloves, pistol-whipping one of the roommate’s and breaking his teeth and demanding money, drugs and or valuables. When told that they were all just regular working guys, the intruders grew enraged. They corralled Jesse Jr and the other two roommates plus one of the roommates girlfriend's into one room, threatening to kill them all if they did not produce drugs, money or jewelry during this the one of the criminals with the gun (who seemed to be in charge) was getting more and more loud and agitated and told the three that if they didn't comply with their demands, he would start shooting one after the other.

Upon hearing this and fearful for his and his roommate’s lives in a moment of bravery, Jesse Jr sprang into action, tackling the criminal with the gun and attempting to get the gun away from him. Shots rang out, and in the chaos, the other two roommates chose to leap out of the second story window to safety.

After speaking with the roommate’s, it became clear that Jesse Jr's actions saved their lives. Jesse has been admitted into RI hospital and has been in the ICU for 14 days and counting and has endured many surgeries to repair the damage to his internal organs. Jesse Jr is a good kid and moved to Rhode Island from GA for job offer from a family member and was a former Morehouse mechanical engineering student and while in high school he maintained a 4.0 GPA and maintained that 4.0 GPA grade trough is first year of college.

As a father I am overwhelmed with pride for my sons’ bravery and thought less actions that night. The doctors have reported that he is stable but currently getting better and is heavily sedated. And has had a colostomy done which hopefully can be reversed within 3 to 6 months which will require another surgery. Please keep Jesse Jr in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time. Your support and funds will help Jesse recover and move back to Georgia and get himself healthy again and be able to move forward with his life. This means the world to us. Thank you.
