New Van 4 Karen

Hi, my name is Karen and I am here today requesting your help in raising funds to purchase a brand new or gently used wheelchair accessible van! The funds I raise here will be used to purchase one.

Everyone has the freedom to enjoy life and I'm no different in that way except I need a specialized vehicle. “The vehicle I’m raising funds for is my dream van which can cost up to $70-80,000! I am also open to a gently-used van as long it meets my requirements and preferences with a side-entry wheelchair ramp, lowered floor conversion and safety locks for me and my chair.

For those of you who do not know me personally, I was born with a rare birth defect that affected my lack of muscle development and stiff joints. I’ve always tried to be as active as possible and volunteered in a lot of different things from my younger years to when I was married then widowed. Now, thanks to a nasty bout with Pneumonia I’m having to use oxygen 24/7, which makes having a reliable vehicle even more important.

My old van has served me well through the years. However it is a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with over 150,000 miles on her and most of the special adaptive parts are no longer available or on back-order. I’m praying she will not break down and leave me stranded out somewhere or even home-bound for any length of time as I do live in the country and public transportation is not an option for me.

In order to keep my independence I need to continue my life activities such as attending church services and social activities, water exercise, grocery shopping, doctors appointments, volunteering and ministering to others, taking care of Abbie (my senior retired helper dog/Standard Poodle), and what ever help I can provide others.
