PLEASE HELP THIS BEAUTIFUL FAMILY BY DONATING
Motor Neurone Disease is a terminal neurodegenerative disease that causes rapidly progressive muscle weakness. Specifically, the disease effects nerve cells that control the muscles that enable you to move, speak, breathe and swallow.
Approximately 1400 people in Australia are living with this disease. MND typically affects people in their mid-50s.
Motor Neurone Disease affects not only the person but also the other members of the family and friends that surround that person.
I know this now, as a good friend of mine of 20 years standing, was diagnosed a few months ago and it has come as a shock to see how quickly her health is deteriorating.
Robyn was a dedicated primary school teacher on the Mornington Peninsula spending the last 25 years at Tyabb Railway Primary School and even in retirement Robyn continued to assist the school with some part-time teaching, as well as writing and direction our annual school production.
Robyn has also been heavily involved as a volunteer with the local AUSKICK club for the past eight years, helping in the canteen, chopping fruit, washing footy jumpers…
The illness is moving rapidly and her daughter has given up her job to care for her full time, placing additional pressure on the family (husband and three children), both emotional and financial.
Her illness has encouraged me to raise funds with a twofold purpose:
1. To donate funds to the campaign to help find a cure for MND.
2. To ensure that the family has some financial support and to supply Robyn with the needs to have some comfort in her fight.
Yours sincerely,
Vikki
