Hello Friends, Family and First Responders
Our friend and co-worker Shaena Randles, needs your help. After two months of pushing through mysterious pain and fatigue, missing out on weeks worth of shifts - Shaena finally agreed to go to the hospital.
Her diagnosis is Cancer, Leukaemia specifically. She has been admitted and is going straight into treatment that includes bone marrow transplants and chemo-therapy.
We all know the feeling, not wanting to be the young healthy person going to the hospital with invisible pain. In part, Shaena’s will kept her from seeking treatment.
Shaena was preparing to start Full-time in Vancouver Post this Oct. 3. Because she is in hospital, she will not be able to report for work. As a casual worker, this means she has zero short term/ long term disability coverage past the five sick days that she has already taken hoping this pain would pass.
Shaena has two dependants (dogs), Brigid the Irish Wolfhound and Whiskey the Border Collie
Circumstances surrounding these events are outrageous in their tragic absurdity. Vancouver rental markets mean that her and her partner have faced two rent-evictions in the past two months (family moving in to increase the rent?), in total they’ve had to move 3 times now since July and their newest short term rental ends in four months.
Any amount you can comfortably afford to donate will be greatly appreciated.
Imagine, if 200 people donated a day, or a half day of work she would have a full year to focus on treatment.
Thank You so much for considering and sending good vibes to her.
Sincerely,
Shaena’s BC Ambulance Family
