Surgery for Lola's Mutilated Ears

My name is Makenzie and I am a sophomore in college. I rescued my pitbull Lola from dog fighting. I was looking for a dog online and came across a link to a craigslist ad for a pitbull puppy that needed a home. I contacted the number listed in the ad, and the man had me meet him in a parking lot. The dog that he brought looked much different than in the pictures he had online;  she was a lot skinnier.  She was around one year old but looked much younger and underdeveloped. She had scars and newly formed scabs all over her head and neck. But, the first thing I noticed was she had no ears. Her ears were mutilated, completely cropped off from her head. Her nails looked like they had never been trimmed, she was skin and bones, but her belly was very puffy so I knew she must have worms.

When I took her home I could tell she knew she was safe. Like other abused animals, she followed me everywhere never letting me out of sight.  Adopting Lola was the best thing I have ever done, she is truly my best friend. Despite her past life, she is the sweetest dog I have ever met always wanting to meet every dog and person she sees, greeting them with nothing but a wagging tail and lots of kisses.

While I have been able to help Lola with most of her health issues, there is still one remaining problem that she needs your help with. As I mentioned before, her ears are completely cropped off, several vets suggest it was done with just scissors. The remaining parts of her ear were then sewn back to her head, leaving her ear hole opening very small; not allowing any dirt that gets trapped in to come back out. As a result, she has chronic ear infections and constant pain, itching and swelling, and she scratches at them so much they bleed. Despite the relief I try to provide with topical treatments, she needs reconstructive surgery to open up her ear canal and get rid of the excess scar tissue from the original cropping of her ears.

Any donations that can be provided will go towards her surgery and required aftercare. Since I am a college student trying to provide the best life for my best friend, I truly appreciate any donations that are given. We are hoping to have the surgery in the next 2 weeks. Thank you very much.
