WV Flood Victim - Susan Jack

My Name is Cheryl Crabtree and Susan Jack is my Sister and Best Friend.
Susan is an extraordinary person in every way. She is a loving single mother to her 15 year old daughter Jodi, intelligent and strong natured, and a person with an incredible work ethic, but she has lost nearly everything in the recent flooding in West Virginia.
She lives in Clendenin which experienced total devastation. Heartbroken, and with complete disregard to her own losses, Susan immediately and aggressively began working to help others. She recruited and coordinated efforts with numerous volunteer work groups, both local and from afar, and has physically worked on relief and recovery efforts herself associated with this disaster. WCHS TV News featured but just one of these such efforts entitled "Mountain Mamas and Mountain Men help flood victims in Clendenin" found here: http://wchstv.com/news/local/mountain-mamas-and-mountain-men-help-flood-victims-in-clendenin .
Susan has passionately assisted countless numbers of flood victims like this in her community with initial relief and cleanup efforts, and now continues to do so through recovery efforts and assisting those trying to rebuild.
Losses:
Susan was in the process of moving when this horrible event occurred on June 23 & 24th, and had most of her possessions stored in 4 rented storage lockers. Unfortunately the storage facility ended up 3 feet underwater. All of her appliances, furniture, and larger items of value were a total loss. There was no time to save things the night of the flood for she was trying to get her daughter and other family members, including her 90 year old great aunt, to higher ground and out of harms way. They are safe, but left with little.
Susan has come to realize that it is all just “stuff”. She is more upset about losing photos, scrapbooks, and keepsakes, and the fact that her hometown is completely devastated and that her daughter's high school, the high school she also graduated from years ago, has been ruled a total loss.Once Susan evaluated the extent of her personal losses and realized there was little she could do but have most of it tossed on a dump heap, she immediately walked away from it and began helping others in her community who's lives were also turned upside down.
As if the storm and the loss of her personal possessions weren't enough, June 30 was to be her last day of employment at her job due to a contract not being renewed for the company she worked for. This has been a curse to Susan personally due to the lack of a personal revenue stream, however it has been a blessing to the many in her community, for it freed her up to assist in a big way.
Susan's compassion and love for her community, along with her professional background in management, industry and construction has been, and continues to be, a huge asset in relief and recovery efforts for the numerous struggling people she is assisting.
This flood has forever changed her lifelong home along the Elk River, the people's lives who live there, and Susan's life. While Susan is strong, very independent, and not normally a person that needs or wants assistance from others, she has never faced this type of loss before. She has placed countless others before herself and continues to do so.
Please consider a donation in support of Susan Jack to reduce her financial burden and help she and her daughter get back on their feet.
Thanks very much for your consideration and prayers for Susan and Jodi.
