Russia continuously strikes critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
Ukrainians are facing constant power cuts and heating disruptions. Spending days in cold and darkness. Amongst them are our friends and families.
To help them, and do that in a way that gives back to the communities in Scotland,
so we are organising a series of charity events to support our fundraiser.
All proceeds from these events and this fundraiser go to buy supplies for Ukrainians.
Please help us help them
Who are we?
Niviena with her grand grandma in Vinnytsia, Ukraine
Niviena was the first Ukrainian to join the Scottish Preloved Baby Boxes Appeal and to contribute tremendous effort over the last 9m months
Niviena came to University of Glasgow as an exchange student. She was about to go home when the war broke out.
Since February, the whole team worked enormously hard and sent more than 90 tonnes of humanitarian aid as part of the Scottish Preloved Baby Boxes Appeal for Ukrainian moms and their babies. Niviena’s family in Vinnytsya, Ukraine has established a Scotland-Ukraine charity, they personally receive and distribute supplies for people in need.

This effort would not be possible without the wonderful Scottish community
Mark
Mark graduated from University of Glasgow and stayed in Glasgow for work, but his family was back in Kyiv when russia tried to besiege the city.
At the start of the war, Mark created and published an information website for the Ukrainians seeking refuge in the UK.

He supported displaced Ukrainians relocating to the UK and with his family appeared in the media advocating for refugee visas for the Ukrainians. His efforts helped to match more than a hundred people to hosts in England.
Why is this fundraiser happening
Continuing russian strikes leave people in Ukraine without most basic facilities - like light and heat.
While generators bought from the big fundraisers go where they needed most - to hospitals and shelters, thousands of people are still living in the dark.
What are we doing
Instead of just asking for money, we want to give back to the community. So we are organising events appealing to a wide range of audiences. Our first event happened in December, when we've hosted a Jazz night in West end of Glasgow.
All proceeds from the event went to buy rechargeable lights of Ukrainians.
What we’re raising for
Our current goal is to purchase rechargeable lights. With electricity only appearing for short periods of time, elderly people are left to struggle alone in the dark.
From the proceeds of our first event, we have already bought and shipped 40 lights to Ukraine, where they have been distributed through Scotland-Ukraine in Vinnitsya, charity set up by Niviena's family, and by volunteers in Kyiv and Dnipro.
We want to make sure, that every pound raised goes to Ukraine. Hence, all expenses for the events, packaging, transportation etc are covered with our personal funds.
100% of the money raised is used to purchase supplies for Ukraine.
