Maui's CCL Road to Recovery

Hi everyone, it's Maui again! For those new here, I'm a playful pup recovering from a CCL surgery on my left leg. Unfortunately, I have some bad news to share.

On Monday, I had post-op x-rays to check on my left leg's healing and my right leg's condition. The good news is my left leg is healing well, though it's not fully recovered yet. I had been feeling so well that I got so excited on a recent walk that I got the zoomies, worsening the tear of my CCL on my right leg. That means I'll need another surgery sooner than expected.

My mom is still struggling with the cost of my first surgery, and this new challenge is a lot for her. Despite everything, she ensures I'm showered with love and treats, which keeps my spirits high!

Hi, my name is Maui, and I just celebrated my 4th birthday! Among my many names, my most cherished one is "Mommy's best friend!" There's nothing I love more than greeting her at the door with full-body wiggles and showering her with kisses. My mission? To be her sunshine on a cloudy day and her ultimate goofball when she's feeling blue.

But lately, something's changed. My enthusiasm hasn't waned, but my body is betraying me. Welcoming Mommy with my usual flair has become a challenge. I've struggled with simple activities, from walking to cuddling up next to her.

Worried, Mommy took me to the vet. They pampered me with treats, but the news wasn't great. I have arthritis in both my back knees and might have torn my CCL – that's like a human's ACL.

Despite medications, my playful spirit isn't fully back. We needed more tests and X-rays to find out what was going on and get me back on my paws. They confirmed that I have a partial CCL tear and that they are worried about my meniscus. They also saw I have a minor tear on my right side as well. To get healthy again, I will have to have surgery on my left side, and we are praying my right side can heal on its own.

My mommy's been my superhero. She's juggled college expenses and never let me feel any less loved, pampering me with toys, treats, and even sending me to a fantastic trainer. But these unexpected medical bills are stretching her finances.
