T1D Hiking for T1Ds

Tax deductible
Hi! I'm Kristina and I've been living with Type 1 Diabetes since I was 17...so half my life! Despite being insulin-dependent (no thanks to my pancreas!) and utilizing both an insulin pump and continuous glucose sensor to manage my blood sugar, I have figured out how to do all sorts of crazy adventures. My latest endeavor is attempting the Pacific Crest Trail with my brother this year (2650+ miles from Mexico to Canada)!

For me, it has been a long journey of trial and error to figure out how to be both a diabetic AND an adventurer. Those trials and errors could have been greatly reduced and potentially avoided if I had doctors that had encouraged creative solutions and T1D examples to follow. There are many different tools and strategies that can be utilized in managing T1D, and the solutions are totally individual.

It is supremely important for young people with T1D to be encouraged to pursue wild lives, as well as taught how to safely manage their blood sugars throughout any adventures they may choose to do. Camp Conrad Chinnock teaches families and T1Ds how to effectively manage the disease and provides a network of T1Ds. All things are easier if you see someone else doing it first, and that applies 100% to living life with Diabetes.

Please help me in raising some funds for Camp Conrad Chinnock to enrich the futures of young T1Ds! https://www.diabetescamping.org/
