I started this fundraiser to help with Mike's out of pocket medical expenses never dreaming that he would be called home. Like you my heart is broken. Not for Mike. He is experiencing things right now we cannot imagine but I grieve for Mike's family. Amy, Slaton and Maci. The hole that this loss will leave in their hearts will never be filled. It's now time that those that loved Mike step up and assist his family. Their needs will be many in this period after his passing. Please, please look into your heart and give what you can to help them financially through this heart breaking time. Mike gave so freely of his time, energy and Love. My name is Mike White and I am writing this letter for my good friend Mike Teague. Mike has been
fighting a battle against Congestive Heart Failure for the past 3 years. He has had numerous stays in the
hospital along this journey all the while keeping his Faith that God was in control of his life. In
September of 2014, he was in the process of testing for a heart transplant and during that testing they
found cancer on one of his kidneys. This left him unavailable to get a new heart so he was implanted
with an LVAD (Left Ventricle Assist Device). He has worn a vest of batteries that have kept him alive for
the past one and a half years. In the summer of 2015, the surgeons were able to take the cancer off of
the kidneys hoping that eventually he would be cleared for an ultimate heart transplant surgery. After
over 10 hospital stays since then, Mike is now finally able to go on the heart transplant list. As you might
can imagine, the costs of all of this and the cost of the transplant surgery itself is very expensive. Also,
after the surgery he will be facing 10-12 weeks of recovery and rehab that the hospital requires him to
stay in Dallas in an apartment somewhere. There is a complex right across the street from the hospital
that actually has a shuttle to the hospital, but the cost is $50 a day. This is not considering the food and
meds that he will have to be on at this time and the cost of all of the follow up visits.
Through setback after setback, my friend has always kept his faith and endured this hard journey. His
mindset has always been, “that God was in control, and that he just wanted to be a witness of His
power, and to bring fame to God’s name.” Would you consider helping him at this time of his life as he
faces a heart transplant and then the cost of the treatment after the surgery. He expressed to me
recently that he has been so humbled by people’s love during this time, and that anything that people
would do for him would be so appreciated and that he can’t wait to be able to pay it forward to a world
that desperately needs the love of Christ shown in their life.
