Want to join us in making an impact on the lives of youth and the sustainability of our city?
Trips For Kids Charlotte needs YOUR help to reach our goal of more youth on bikes, a stronger impact in communities in need of mobility and a more equitable and sustainable future for Charlotte. This year for #GivingTuesday through the end of the 2019, consider giving the gift of support for the program and mission of Trips for Kids Charlotte!
For the past 20 years Trips for Kids Charlotte has provided transformative cycling experiences for under-resourced youth and communities in the form of three programs: Our Ride Program, Earn-A-Bike Programs and community shop, The Charlotte Re-Cyclery.
As we conclude on another great season of youth programing and cycling community support, we look towards a future full of updated and extended programing. Help us get there. Help us create a greater impact!
OUR PROGRAM VISION FOR A FUTURE:
Ride Program - Our ride program provides opportunities for under-resourced youth to engage in nature and the urban network of greenways within their city to provide transformative experiences, appreciation and respect of their piers and landscape around them. The Ride Program empowers youth with the concept of overcoming obstacles in their path, whether those boundaries are roots on the trail or distances to success.
Earn-A-Bike (EAB)- Trips for Kids Charlotte supports pathways to success through a series of programs geared to engage youth from learning the basics of safely riding a bike for recreation all the way to a sustainable option for work or transportation. EAB encompasses our “Learn to ride, earn the ride” program, our keystone Earn-A-Bike program and our Internship program. Each program is meant to strengthen and educate youth from all backgrounds on skills and how to use a bicycle as a means for personal and social enrichment.
The Charlotte Re-Cyclery - This is our community shop program and so much more. This space acts as a catalyst for sustainability, community support and a space to share knowledge and skills. The shop provides the mechanical support and (for now) financial support for the organization by repurposing donated and unwanted bikes and transforming them into social programming and cost efficient bicycle options for recreation or mobility. The Re-Cyclery will work to create opportunities for an internship program partnership with EAB.
