MISSION STATEMENT
By fundraising from the community and other interested supporters, TK Soccer Charity is committed to providing a safe culture that offers free soccer training skills and individual life lessons to underprivileged kids from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in Uganda.

Ultimately, this would give kids the framework for Teamwork, Cooperation, Healthy Habits, Friendships, and a platform to adopt positive leadership skills that would propel them to becoming productive citizens within their communities.

Simplicity
The founders, influencers, driving force, and strongest supporters of TK Soccer Charity and its Mission Statement are Timothy Katende and Herbert Tamale.

Information about the TK Soccer Charity Founders:
1. Timothy Katende and
2. Herbert Tamale
Timothy Katende, a married man with 3 children, is a Ugandan citizen. He initiated the idea of the TK in 2018 upon witnessing numerous kids that had been neglected, hopeless, dejected, and resentful despite having great potential.

EDUCATION
Timothy attended Saint Henry's College Kitovu (Ordinary High School) from 1989 to 1992.
In 1993, he joined Caltec Academy for his Advanced High School Education and graduated in 1994.
In 1995, he attended Makerere University, specialized in Computer Science, completed his undergraduate degree in 1998 and a postgraduate degree in 2001.
He is currently employed as an Information Technology consultant in Informatics.

SOCCER EXPERIENCE
Timothy's soccer playing career started in the suburbs of Bukoto, Kampala district. Due to his great skills, he was recruited by St. Henry's College Kitovu and immediately made an impact on the school's soccer team. While on the school team, he interacted with several colleagues and among them was Herbert Tamale. Ever since meeting in High school the two have always stayed connected.

THE ACADEMY START
In 2018, Timothy started TK as a soccer academy with the main objective of helping the underprivileged kids. He used the game to install discipline, hard work, responsibility, and respect among kids regardless of sex, race, and religion.

CHALLENGES:
Running an academy came with its challenges for instance; costs associated with; Hiring Coaches, Transporting, Feeding, Renting Field Space, and Buying Equipment for all the underprivileged kids.

Transporting TK players to their scheduled activities

Feeding TK Players

TK Rented Field Space

Equipment (Uniforms)

Despite using part of his salary to pay program expenses, Timothy's financial support / 'muscle' was not enough. Sadly, he resorted to turning away some kids to reduce costs.

Timothy would like to help as many kids as possible. To do so, he is kindly requesting anyone's donation to help his cause to support Ugandan kids with an opportunity to excel in life.

In support of this cause, Herbert J. Tamale has also shown great interest.

Herbert J. Tamale has been a Supervisor for Athletics Services for the City of Huntsville, Alabama since 2013 and has a 10-year track record of helping in strengthening the Huntsville community by; Promoting Health and Wellness, Providing Opportunities to Increase Rigorous Physical Activity, Tightening Interpersonal Relationships, and Driving Economic Opportunities.

EDUCATION and SOCCER EXPERIENCE
Prior to working for the City of Huntsville, Herbert was An Assistant Men's soccer coach for the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2001, his Alma mater. He was a member/student athlete of the men's soccer team from 1996-1999 that won the gulf south conference championships in 1996 and 1997. In both years, the sports information directors, media, and conference officials selected him to the All-Tournament and All Regular Season team as a GSC men's soccer Defenseman.

Also, the 1996- and 1997-Men's soccer programs still hold the top two best regular season soccer records in school history.

From 2001 - 2013, Herbert coached Decatur High School Soccer Programs (2002), Madison County High School Soccer Programs (2011), Huntsville Middle School (6 years), Kicks Futbol Club/Huntsville Futbol Club (2003 - 2013).

Besides working as a Supervisor of Athletics, Herbert is also a Certified Soccer coach. He acquired the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) 'D' National license in 2006 and the USSF life 'C' license in 2008.

INVOLVEMENT WITH THE ACADEMY
Herbert's involvement with TK started in 2021 when Timothy, his long-time friend, classmate, schoolmate, and teammate contacted him for support.

Prior to reaching out, Timothy, single handedly ran the entire program. He was a coach, Mentor, and father figure. He had barely sustained the academy despite sacrificing part of his salary, as a consultant, to buy equipment, rent field space, feed, and transport kids to and from their sports activities.

In 2022 while on vacation in Uganda, Herbert visited TK, offered a few coaching lessons, and promised to support the program hence bonding with Timothy and change the TK Soccer Academy to TK Soccer Charity.

This would result in bringing opportunities and positive life changes to the underprivileged kids from diverse socio-economic backgrounds in Uganda.
