The LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation

On January 23, 2021, I had an epiphany while spending time with our mother before she went to be with our dad the following morning. Having known how hard she and Dorothy "Dot" Mullner (pictured with my mother above) worked to not only bring the Montessori program to G.R.P.S. but make it successful enough to keep it in existence. I told our mom that I would not let her hard work and dedication to education be forgotten, and I would accomplish this by starting a Foundation in her and our dad's name. I said to her "I would start the LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation to support Montessori excellence". She gave me a big smile and squeezed my hand. One of many fond memories that are now treasures.

On April 28, 2022, The LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation was born, and in May 2022 the Foundation handed out the first two scholarships. Two hard-working G.R. Montessori graduates received a $1,000 scholarship to help pay for costs associated with their higher education. This year, the Foundation is raising the bar by looking to hand out three $2,000 scholarships. For this to happen, we need the help of the village. I know previous and current GR Montessori educators are part of the village and will support the Foundation which I thank you for in advance, however, we are looking to expand our village. I believe by expanding our village outside of Montessori educators and parents, to other parents in Grand Rapids and surrounding communities they get exposed to and interested in the Montessori program. I believe this is a win win win situation for the scholarship recipients, the Montessori program, and the newly enrolled Montessori student.

So please spread the word. We want to assist monetarily and encourage through generosity 3 Montessori graduates in 2023 with their transition to college life, and we can't do it without the help of our community.
