Ballistic Vests for K-9's in Oakland County, MI

Dear Dog lovers,

My name is Allyson Dale, and I am the granddaughter of a retired Lansing PD officer. Inspired by his dedication, I deeply value the service of those who protect our communities, including our K-9 handlers and their canine partners. To help ensure the safety of these vital members of Oakland County area police agencies, I have launched this fundraiser in partnership with the Thomas Richards Charity to provide ballistic vests for K-9 units in need of protection.

K-9 officers and their partners are indispensable. They detect drugs and explosives, locate missing persons, and track down dangerous criminals, yet, despite their critical, and sometimes dangerous roles, many lack protective gear due to the substantial costs associated with it. Tragically, 2-3 dozen K-9 officers are killed each year in the line of duty due to the lack of body armor. Statistically speaking, a K9 handler and his dog are over 30% more likely to be killed or injured in the line of duty when not wearing ballistic vests.

Protective ballistic vests are essential. Each one costs $3,655, and they offer protection against bullets and other threats while being lightweight enough for all-day wear without causing overheating or long-term joint issues. The K9 Storm vests are custom-fit to each dog, allowing full mobility and comfort, ensuring that our K-9 heroes can perform their duties without added physical strain.
