The Show Must Go On

Life without Theatre is a lot less bright and we are fired up to make this a reality. We want to bring back laughter, togetherness and generate income not just for the Theatres and their workers but for the local businesses nearby who have lost out because the Theatres have been shut or are working to reduced capacity.

The main problem we're facing is that Theatres cannot invest in new shows for an indeterminate length of time due to the financial risk the pandemic has caused. As soon as we  realised what we were up against, we decided we would have to make "The Show Must Go On!" ourselves... with no income. The positive response amongst theatre practitioners for us to at least try to generate work was staggering. It has meant we have got to this stage... poised on the brink of making the show a reality, on goodwill alone, such is the belief in the show and the idea behind it.

Any donations we receive would cover the wages of the actors, director, musical director, choreographer, stage manager, licensing of the script and original music, musical arrangements and production, costume designer, lighting designer, sound designer, stage management, marketing, venue hire, travel and everything else we will need for two weeks rehearsal and technical rehearsal. All the payments will be in line with standard industry contracts. This is not for profit but for work. Once we have created the show, we will go to theatres that need shows to fill spaces left in their seasons because of the pandemic.

This project is about keeping Theatres alive and generating jobs. The desire for us to succeed with this show has been utterly breathtaking and moving.
