The Urban K-9 Academy Service Dogs for Veterans Fundraiser
Donation protected
Welcome, and thank you for joining us in supporting our veterans!
About Us:
The Urban K-9 Academy is a service dog training company dedicated to helping veterans with disabilities by providing them with highly trained service dogs. For over 8 years, we’ve worked closely with various people with disabilities (including veterans) who suffer from conditions such as PTSD, physical injuries, migraines, and light mobility challenges.
We aim to give Veterans the support they deserve by matching them with a service dog that will help them reclaim their independence.
Our Mission:
The cost of training a fully trained service dog is $12,000. Thanks to generous donations and our partnership with AKC-registered dog breeders, we are able to provide these dogs at no cost to the veterans.
This fundraiser will cover the entire cost of 2 fully trained dogs, their training, veterinary care, and boarding—giving our veterans the life-changing support they need.
How We Help:
Each dog we train is carefully matched to its veteran and is trained to perform tasks such as:
- Deep Pressure Therapy
- Item retrieval (medications, phones, walkers, etc.)
- Counterbalance and Bracing (for stability and balance issues)
- Anxiety interruption (calming the veteran during panic attacks or distress)
- Space creation (blocking to help veterans navigate crowded environments)
- Automatic door button pushing, opening/closing doors, picking up dropped items and more.
We tailor each dog’s training to the specific needs of the veteran, ensuring they receive the help that best supports their daily life.
Our Screening Process:
We carefully vet every veteran seeking a service dog, ensuring they meet the necessary requirements:
- A completed service dog application
- A doctor’s note indicating the need for a service dog
- A copy of the veteran's DD-214 (honorable discharge)
- Proof of service-connected medical conditions
Training and Exposure:
Our dogs undergo extensive socialization and training, including exposure to:
- Children and family environments
- Livestock and horses
- Various public spaces such as restaurants, stores, and entertainment venues
- Routine handling and performance of critical tasks
Our current program operates from our home, limiting the number of dogs we can train at once. However, we’re planning to expand by securing a larger facility to better serve our veterans and house more dogs.
**100% of Donations Support Veterans**
This fundraiser directly benefits veterans by providing them with a service dog free of charge. Your donations will help cover the purchase price of the dog (if not donated), their training, medical care, and ongoing support.
Thank you for your support in making a lasting difference in the lives of veterans. Together, we can help them live more independent, fulfilling lives with the assistance of a service dog.
