Pancreatic Surgery For My Sister

My sister Tara was diagnosed with Pancreatic Divisum; it is a rare birth defect where the two ducts in the pancreas did not form together as a embryo. It has not affected her until she became pregnant with my youngest niece who is 19 months old; Emma. My sister is a loving and adored wife and mother of 4 girls; ages from 19months to 12 years old. She has developed pancreatitis because of the disorder which causes her a lot of pain and discomfort every day. Due to the disorder she has developed a sudo cyst on the tail of the pancreas and it is growing in size. A recent visit to the GI doctor has told her that the cyst could burst and cause toxic blood poisoning if not drained. The pancreatic divisum is causing the enzymes in her pancreas to back up and release back into the pancreas where it is eating the pancreas walls. Without the procedure it could lead to her passing within a year or less. This is why it is so important to get this done and we haven't had much luck by ourselves. This procedure is very rare and only select few surgeons can execute it properly. There are only 3 surgeons on this side of the US (and only 4 nationwide) that know how to perform it. They want to put a stint that connects from the end of the pancreas where the cyst is; to her stomach to drain it. Then go back in and remove the stent once drained. The size of the duct, where the cyst is, is the size of the end of a pall point pen.The procedure itself is very expensive and my sister does not qualify for health insurance. She has applied many times and been rejected...through Medicaid and Obama care etc.. she was turned away from emergency Medicaid because she does not have cancer, which this type of disorder could turn into, or because she is not pregnant. Because she is so short on time she needs this procedure done ASAP. The procedure ranges from $50,000-$100,000. Anything would help and it would be greatly appreciated.
