Humanitarian Crisis Alert: Civil War in Sudan

The ongoing civil war in Sudan has plunged the country into a humanitarian catastrophe.

My name is Husham Hantoush, I'm a Sudanese living in Canada, Milton. I'm helping my people back home who fled the war and now sheltering in Sinnar (a city south Khartoum), where 14 schools are turned into shelters to host displaced people.

They lost everything and the are in dire need for any little thing.

We are helping with basic needs, food and basic medicine. some of them had to walk for days and many died in the way.

My aim is to deliver emergency basic needs, food and medicine.

Funds will be transferred directly to local charities and organization who are managing those shelters to make sure that the funds is well received and is spend on the needs specified.

Currently I'm supporting 3 centers (out of 14) with around 1210 people living there, total budget is $5980 weekly

So What is exactly happening ?

The ongoing civil war in Sudan has plunged the country into a humanitarian catastrophe. The conflict, which intensified following the military coup in October 2021, has led to widespread suffering and an urgent need for international assistance.

Key Points of the Crisis:

- Mass Displacement: Since April 15, 2023, the conflict has caused severe displacement, with over 6.9 million people fleeing their homes. This includes 5.5 million internally displaced within Sudan and 1.4 million who have sought refuge in neighboring countries.

- Dire Needs: The conflict has resulted in critical shortages of food, water, medicine, and fuel. Basic goods' prices have increased dramatically, putting a strain on already suffering communities.

- Vulnerable Populations: Women and children are particularly affected. More than 4.2 million women and girls are at heightened risk of gender-based violence. Essential healthcare services, especially for pregnant women and children, are drastically impacted.

The scale of the crisis is overwhelming, and the people of Sudan urgently need our support to survive this turbulent period.
