Taylor Phelps Craniotomy Recovery Fund
Donation protected
As many of you know, my niece Taylor was rushed to the ER Tuesday night for numbness on the right side of her body. A CT scan showed a lesion on her brain had hemorrhaged; she was transported that night via ambulance to St. Luke's children's hospital downtown. After an exhausting night of testing, the cause of the lesion was determined to be a Cavernous Angioma. Surgery was the only treatment option, given its location and the symptoms she was experiencing. On Friday morning, a sudden onset of total numbness from her eyebrow down to her ankle on the right side led to an absent seizure. An EEG showed lots of activity around the lesion, triggering further complications, which she will be on long-term medication to treat. She underwent surgery on Saturday morning to perform the craniotomy, and everything went as well as we had hoped!!!
Recovery will be a long, challenging road for Taylor; this is life-altering for her and will also pose an inevitable financial burden on her family. Taylor has a loft bed and will need new bedroom furniture to make her comfortable and potentially some other handicap alterations made to her home, along with a large insurance deductible and long-term rehabilitation costs.
Tegan has said they have had an overwhelming outpouring of love and support from friends and the community asking how they can help! I thought this was a good option for anyone who would like to help them with the financial aftermath of this tragic event in their sweet daughter's life!! Any contributions are so deeply appreciated, and the family extends their gratitude in advance for your support!
