Hello, I am a track and field athlete that is looking to represent team Canada this summer. I am competing at the Pan American Junior Championships in Medellion, Columbia, August 20-26. My main event is the Hammer throw, which I will be competing in at the event.
This is a partially self funded team, with the deadline vastly approaching. I am full time student-athlete and hold a steady job all year round. I can barely afford my travel and competing without such a costly trip, I cannot afford this team on my own.
This will be my second National team, first was as a Youth for Worlds held in Lille, France in 2011. I am looking to start to make a name for myself as an international threat in the Hammer world! I am currently ranked second in Canada, and would like to finish first by the end of the season.
I am a CIS athlete going into my second year as a thrower at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta. I finished my rookie season as the farthest rookie thrower in CIS history along with a CanWest and CIS gold! I plan on training there and adding to that success in the future.
My major competition prior to Columbia will be Canada Summer Games competing for Nova Scotia, I hope to medal, and ultimately win the Hammer event! Giving me a great opportunity to do well in Columbia.
I would greatly appreciate any help that you may be able to offer. It's hard enough making a National Team, not being able to go due to the financial burden of it is not going to stop me, as I hope that you can help me get there !
Thank you very much,
Kayla Gallagher
