#TeamAmari Fighting Cancer

UPDATE: We want thank everyone for your continued prayers and support. But, Amari's fight isn't over! He is currently recovering from his 2nd surgery, but has to now undergo radiation and chemo again. Unfortunately, this process will take about 3 months and it has to be done in Memphis, TN. So, we are packing up and leaving for his next journey this coming week. We ask for you all to continue to join us in this fight with your prayers and thoughts. Any little support will help us through the process as we head into a year of fighting with Amari. Thank you! 


On March 8, 2016, my 15-year old son Amari, who already suffers from petit-mal seizures, was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma.  This aggressive sarcoma of soft tissue or bone can arise from any part of the body.  Amari suffered swelling in his knee for a long time before we found out that the tissues were cancerous.  Amari has been a strong guy ever since he was born.  He’s been through his share of seizures and now he has to go through this hard time in his life. 




Amari has been cared for by the physicians at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.  He recently received a port under his chest for his chemotherapy cycles that will begin on March 25th.  Amari will receive 4 cycles of IV chemotherapy in Peoria, Illinois with a 4-day hospitalization period after each chemo session.  After the 4 cycles, Amari will have surgery to see if the cancer can be removed.  Following surgery he will have another 3 cycles of chemotherapy and radiation.  We all know how chemotherapy can make someone feel, we pray for Amari’s strength through this challenging process.




While St. Jude nonprofit hospital has been wonderful and insurance is covering a lot of the cost, there are still many expenses that are not covered.  My family and I are starting this fund to help assist with the cost of Amari’s strong fight with cancer.  Anything that you can give will be greatly appreciated.  We are forever grateful for all the prayers, support and love shown to our family during this difficult time.
