Help Leianna’s fight against Neuroblastoma
Donation protected
Just a short time ago, Leianna, a sweet and spunky, seemingly healthy almost-two-year old had not a care in the world. Nothing unusual, just an easy-going baby who was busy keeping mom and dad on their toes, who loved eating and snacking, and adored play time with her big brother and sisters. Just weeks after a routine well-baby check-up at the doctors, mom and dad noticed her belly was starting to swell up and harden. She was seen via a telemedicine appointment immediately and was advised to take a trip to the Kapiolani ER that day. After an ultrasound showed a large tumor in her abdomen, Kalei and Tony’s world was turned upside down when multiple MRIs, biopsies and blood tests eventually confirmed what every parent fears most. Leianna was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer.
A progressed state of such an aggressive cancer means her care team is throwing everything they have at it. In the last month she has had to be put under general anesthesia 6 times for various procedures and has spent all but two nights in the hospital. Her treatment plan will include continuous scans, tests, and labs, inpatient chemotherapy (7 cycles of 5 days each), surgery, bone marrow harvest and transplantation, and intensive radiation therapy. The entire treatment process will take 3 ½ years.
We’re calling on all family and friends to kokua (help) us raise money to ease the financial burden placed on the family during this time. This account is being put together and managed by close friends of Kalei and Tony. They say it takes a village so let’s be the village! The funds raised will cover a multitude of needs – medical expenses (including mandatory trips to the mainland for her clinical trial), loss of income, home care services, in-home monitoring equipment, nutritional supplements, etc. Please give whatever you’re led to. Any amount helps and is so very appreciated.
In addition, and most importantly, we ask that you keep Leianna AKA Warrior Princess covered in love, prayer and positivity so she is equipped with every weapon possible as she enters this fight. With God, and family and friends near and far loving and supporting her, there is no battle too big for this little Warrior Princess to conquer.
