The 1500 Pads Project

Donation protected
Uganda For Her is raising funds to provide 1,500 sanitary pads for girls in Uganda.

Adolescent girls in Uganda are facing increased challenges accessing menstrual products during the pandemic, due to the adverse impact COVID-19 is having on the family’s income. Furthermore, schools – a critical part of the supply chain – remain closed.

To address this urgent need and to cover the cost of materials, production and to provide a competitive and equitable wage to our local sewing team, Uganda For Her is launching a campaign to raise $5,000.

Your support will help to provide 1,500 sanitary pads to support vulnerable girls and young women in Buwama sub-county, Mpigi District, Uganda.

The pads are reusable and have a lifecycle of about two years. The product uses 100% cotton flannel and a nylon protective casing. These pads are less likely to cause rashes or contact dermatitis. Additionally, the pads will be made locally; generating income for community members.

While schools remain closed, the close relationships Uganda For Her has with the community have enabled us to identify and work with local women's groups to safely distribute pads. Uganda For Her is ideally positioned to provide effective distribution because of our partnerships with trusted local organizations.

With your support, we can help to provide girls and young women in Wakiso District, Uganda with sanitary pads, so they are able to participate fully in their communities and focus on meeting other urgent needs.

Your donation of $3 = 1 pad
Your donation of $20 = 6 pads
Your donation of $50 = 16 pads

Please support this vital project to provide sanitary pads to young girls in Uganda. Empowering the girl child benefits us all.
