African American Heritage-Student Scholarship Fund

The African American Heritage Committee (AAHC) was established in 1990 to pay homage to Black History Month. The goal of the committee is to educate members of the Education community about the contributions Africans and African Americans have made globally to American history.

The AAHC is a non‐profit organization created “for the people, by the people.” Our objective is to touch peoples’ hearts and minds by providing them with invaluable information about our culture through food, dress, dance and song.

We firmly believe education provides understanding – and with understanding, tolerance.

We host an annual scholarship luncheon in honor of Black History Month to further educate the Education community about our culture. In addition to
fundraisers throughout the year, we seek donations from various organizations.

The donated funds are specifically used to provide scholarships to under-served students to help in their pursuit of higher education and self‐sufficiency.

The AAHC seeks to provide a platform to provide insight into the struggles of our ancestors in their pursuit to overcome barriers and pursue excellence that has open doors to provide opportunities for people of color. We believe it is our responsibility to share our knowledge and provide a shining example of what true community service should look like.
