Anthony's Fund

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share with you this request for prayer and support for my husband, Anthony Martinez.

On Thanksgiving Day, Anthony suffered a headache so severe he was rushed to Vassar Hospital. There Anthony was delivered the devastating news, that physicians found a cancerous tumor in his brain that required emergency surgery.

Anthony has subsequently been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer – Glioblastoma.

While in the time since his diagnosis Anthony has maintained his faith in God – this time has been difficult for Anthony.

Since his emergency brain surgery, Anthony has slowly regained his ability to walk and talk – but the road to recovery will be a long and challenging one.

I share this information with this community to highlight just how incredibly wonderful a person Anthony has always been and remains.

Anthony is a loving father to 9 children – a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, colleague, and friend.

After 32 days in the Hospital and fighting for his life, Anthony has finally been released and is now home with his family.

As we embark into the New Year – we are uncertain about what the future will bring, how we as a family will manage Anthony’s continued care, and how we will come together to ensure Anthony has access to the resources he needs to continue to manage his difficult diagnosis.

Anthony’s next course of treatment will include chemotherapy and radiation – and our hope is that this will help battle the regrowth of his brain cancer. Our faith is in God and his mercy to carry us through.

I have established Anthony’s Fund to ensure that we – as Anthony’s community, are able to shower Anthony with the same love, generosity, and care that he has always graciously bestowed onto us.

I thank you for your prayers, for your support, for your love, and for your willingness to stand beside Anthony and his family through this heart-wrenching time.
