Alright friends and family. We have received calls asking how y’all can help Western North Carolina. Here is your chance to be a blessing to a young family expecting their first child in January. Meet Trevor and Amber Ballew from Fairview, NC who we call friends that have been affected tremendously by Hurricane Helene. If you ask anyone that knows them, they would tell you how sweet, kind and humble they are. They would never ask for help on their own because they are the ones who help others. If you feel led to give to them or send words of encouragement, please do. I have set up the gofundme page due to many asking for it as another option from Venmo and baby registries. When I asked Trevor what they needed most of all, he said prayers! Y'all!

Here’s their story: “During the storm, we were at the fire department where we volunteer, called Garren Creek Fire Department. Tragically, during the morning of Helene, a landslide happened beside where the fire department was, destroying 7 homes and damaging another. Tragically, taking the lives of 10 people that were family to Amber and me. The poor community will never be the same, and many people may have to leave due to the destruction that was left in the wake of the storm. Almost all people have been found that were missing from the area, but the families are hurting and pushing through by God’s love and grace. During Tropical Storm Helene, our home was washed away in a landslide. The slide started up the mountain from our house, crossed the road, and hit our home and Amber's aunt and uncle's house next to us. The slide broke our house in half, destroying our garage, living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom. The only thing we could salvage was the clothes from our closet. Everything else was destroyed and covered in mud. We had just bought our house and were working on renovating, but now we do not know what the process will be with the loan company or FEMA. Not only was there devastation to our home, but Amber lost her great aunt and uncle next door. Their house was completely destroyed, and both tragically lost their lives. God has blessed Amber and me by keeping us safe and not being in our home. We are safe and alive, but the unknown and the future for our growing little family will be tough. Thank you for the love, support, and prayers.”
