Help the Thomas-Sand Family recover in Altadena.

Along with so many other families in Altadena, we lost our home, our neighborhood, our town to the Eaton Fire. We are devastated. Our hearts have broken over and over again seeing the loss and destruction that has rampaged through our beautiful homeland. Our neighbors’ homes, our family’s homes, our friends’ homes, the animals, the plants, the mountains- everything has been burned.

We are adamant about staying strong in Altadena and not letting developers and gentrifiers take our homes from us and our neighbors. Altadena is one of the oldest historically Black communities in LA. It’s the first place in LA where Black families were able to own homes because redlining pushed us out of the city and up into these beautiful mountains. We belong here. It is important we all support each other, remain a community and push each other to do the hard thing and rebuild Altadena together. Don’t give up on Altadena!

Anything that is donated here will be used to recover: if it isn’t used by our family, it will go directly to neighbors, family or friends also recovering.

We ask that you also support local organizations that will lead efforts to restore the wild lands of Altadena: Outward Bound Adventures, Altadena Wild, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Arroyo Foothills Conservancy, The Wildlands Conservancy, Eaton Canyon Nature Center, The San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians, My Tribe Rise, Trust for Public Land and Arroyo Seco Foundation are a few examples.
