My name is Max, and I am a 19 year old aspiring filmmaker. I currently live in Cwmbran, South Wales, but have been offered a half-scholarship on the BA Filmmaking Course at London Film Academy, starting September 2022!

The problem is that I still do not have the funds to attend. Despite my very low income, single parent background, I am unable to acquire a student loan! This is particularly frustrating because if I lived in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland there would be no issue. Now for the fun part…

I am organising a sponsored ‘24 hour play’ event! This involves gathering a small group of creatives to write, direct and perform a short play, to an audience at the Congress Theatre, within a 24 hour period.

I will write the play myself from 7pm the night before, starting completely from scratch. The following morning, at 7am, I will brief the cast and hand the play over to the director (Rachel Hamilton, Congress Youth Theatre). I will then oversee the project, bringing together a group of actors, technicians and a film crew who will document the entire process! At 6:30pm I will open the doors, hopefully to a packed audience, and the show goes up at 7. Not only is it going to be an enjoyable and exciting evening, but equally a celebration of growing up in such a wonderful theatre! In fact, it is even their 50th anniversary this year!
