The Kind Kitchen: Serve Scotland
Donation protected
Purpose
We are on a mission to serve Scotland by providing fresh, healthy meals to people most in need, whilst mobilising the struggling independent catering sector.
The Kind Kitchen is an initiative set up by strEAT Events, based in Glasgow & local volunteers. We are committed to meeting the needs of Scotland's most vulnerable people and key workers affected by Covid-19, whilst keeping our vibrant street food and independent food sector alive.
By contributing to The Kind Kitchen, you will help:
- Feed our local communities with nutritious healthy meals, freshly prepared and delivered by our pool of local caterers. Our initial cities to reach are Glasgow & Edinburgh but we aim to expand this across Scotland.
- Feed key workers who are keeping our nation together.
- Support small independent Scottish food businesses who are struggling with little or no income.
For every £600 raised we will commission a food truck or caterer to prepare and deliver 100 meals to our charity partners (see current partner charities below).
-
Our Goal
We are hoping to raise:
- 100K in donations which will enable us to deliver 16,000 meals to those in need in Glasgow & Edinburgh
- Our stretch goal is 200K which will enable us to deliver over 30,000 meals to more communities across Scotland!
Why?
We care about community and are mobilising our industry to serve our nation.
Many charities and non-profit organisations are struggling with recent events, as are many key workers. Mobilising our street food and independent caterers is the perfect opportunity to help alleviate this.
We work with over 150 of Scotland's favourite street food vendors and independent caterers, bringing amazing food to festivals, weddings and corporate events. The current crisis created by Covid-19 has devastated our industry, with between 75-100% of catered events cancelled this year, resulting in potential closure of thousands of businesses.
Mobile caterers are perfectly positioned to alleviate the challenges we are currently facing by preparing and delivering nourishing meals to those in need. Every penny raised will go towards providing balanced meals for our local communities.
-
How?
It's simple, with your donations we will mobilise our caterers to prepare and deliver meals on demand to local communities through our partner charities.
Giving every person access to fresh, healthy food!

We will be working to enhanced Health & Safety regulations meeting the government standards for safe catering operations during a pandemic. All meals delivered will be in suitable food grade, air-tight containers for takeaway.
-
We are a non-profit initiative
Every penny we raise will go toward creating nutritional meals for those in need and creating work for our struggling independent catering sector, keeping everyone going!
All management, planning and admin will be delivered on a charitable basis by strEAT Events and our amazing volunteers!
-
How can you help?
In addition to your kind donations you can also help by:
- Sharing this fundraiser
- Donating hygiene supplies (hand sanitiser, face-masks, gloves)
- Donating bulk food ingredients
Please get in touch with us at [email redacted] if you can assist with any of the above, we’d love to hear from you.
