Buried in the sands of time, the Sphinxes have always been more than stone. They are a keeper of forgotten truths, a mirror of the soul, a guardian who asks not what you know, but who you are becoming.

Now, their eyes glow once more.

In 2025, the Sphinx returns—not to a temple, but to the open heart of Black Rock City.

THE SPHINX GATE EXPERIENCE

Rising from the playa:

Two colossal Sphinxes. Eyes of laser fire. A path between them to unlock the keys of breath, body, mind, heart, destiny.

This is no mere sculpture—it is a threshold, a ritual, a mirror maze of myth and memory.

Each participant becomes the hero of their own journey, stepping between the Sphinxes to confront the riddles that live within:

Who are you without your masks?

What part of you longs to be remembered?

What truth is ready to rise?

Through interactive storytelling, ambient sound, and hidden symbols, the Sphinx Gate invites thousands to awaken ancient wisdom that lives not in books—but in the body, the breath, the mind, heart, destiny, and community.

Why Burning Man?

Burning Man is not just an event—it’s a living crucible of transformation, where radical self-expression, communal effort, and deep introspection collide in the dust. It’s one of the only places in the world where an art piece like The Sphinx Gate can truly come alive—not just as an object to be seen, but as a portal to be experienced. The 10 Principles of Burning Man are woven into our mission: we honor Radical Inclusion by inviting all seekers to step between the Sphinxes; we celebrate Radical Self-Reliance and Self-Expression through the inner riddle each participant must face; and we embody Immediacy and Participation by creating a living, breathing myth that’s only complete when YOU walk through it. We believe in the spirit of Decommodification, and we need your help to bring these to the dust.

We’ve been awarded a Burning Man Honorarium Grant—an incredible vote of confidence that covers a portion of our vision. But to fully bring this mythic structure to life, we need the support of our community: seekers, artists, mystics, builders, and believers.
