He was born with X-Linked Hydrocephlaus (L1CAM) with a very poor prognosis, Cillian has proved everyone wrong and is a very determined little boy and never gives up no matter what.
Cillians life and ours as a family has been a constant battle, since he was born, we have to fight the HSE for everything from Services to Surgery.
Cillian has spent the past 3 years in pain with 2 dislocated hips, he was placed on the Orthapaedics Surgery List in 2018 and on the 17th January 2022 after a long battle he eventually got his surgery. The hospital are now ready to discharge him but he’s unable to go home to be with his family as we are now battling to get homecare help from Louth Disability Services.
For the next 6 weeks Cillian is to to wear leg splints and a foam wedge to keep his legs apart, on and off every 2 hours and continuous throughout the night. He will need to be transferred to his chair during the 2 hour breaks using a hoist aswell as his other care/hygiene needs which will also require 2 people as his legs have to be kept apart at all times!
Cillian has spent his whole life battling the system and this battle will leave him lying in a hospital bed longer than he needs too aswell as keeping him away from home and taking up a hospital bed that is needed by another child.
So I’m know being forced to fundraise to get my boy home after a painful few years! We are hoping to raise enough money to hire homecare help and for intensive physio therapy after his recovery.
Any help would be appreciated.
