Our Road To Recovery
On Memorial Day 2016, Tom Simmons took his Harley for a ride. A driver failed to see his bike approaching the intersection and turned left in front of him. The results were devastating - extensive bodily injury and severe traumatic brain injury. While all of Tom's loved ones have rallied around him in the hopes of a speedy recovery, the magnitude of his injuries have slowed that process down considerably. Medical and living expenses continue to mount while Tom heals.
Will you please consider donating to help Tom, his fiance, and three children through this difficult time? Every donation makes a difference to help this family acquire ADA compliant housing, adequate transportation, much needed medical equipment, vital physical/occupational/speech therapies, and in-home nursing care.
His primary insurance provider has already been billed 1.7 million dollars in medical expenses from the date of his accident until November 2nd, 2016. The expenses have only grown since, and sadly the criminal case for restitution hasn't even begun.
Some of the things we need include a wheelchair accessible van or other vehicle, assistance paying for in home therapy and nursing care, a suitable walker, a proper bed for Tom and his fiance that accomadates his injuries and needs, and a larger home. Currently, Tom and his fiance live in a small apartment. While the apartment complex and generous friends have modified the apartment to be wheelchair accessible, the family needs more space than they currently have. The different types of equipment Tom needs to get through daily life are large, cumbersome, and even with extensive remodelling the apartment won't be able to accomodate all of these complex needs.
