Tough Cookie- A short film

We’re raising money to shoot, edit, and promote the short film, Tough Cookie

When Cookie, a hard-boiled young woman from one of the toughest neighborhoods in her city, recognizes a teenage mother getting involved with a dangerous group of girls, she tries to ignore it, only to discover that she’s in danger of losing custody of her own daughter. Realizing that her own options are limited, she decides to stop the young girl from making the same mistakes she did, in the only way she knows how.

Tough Cookie is a script written by Kofi Scott Tendai, a Washington, DC born, LA-based filmmaker and the founder of Born on Friday Films, who will be directing the short film as well. He says:

“This film touches on many themes, but at its core it’s about caring about others when you’ve been socialized to only think about yourself”

The script has garnered rave reviews from some of the top screenwriting competitions in the country.

WeScreenplay called it an “overall wonderful and deeply affecting script.” Slamdance said it’s “Really well written with good, believable dialogue. Cookie comes off as a very intriguing and complex character.”
