Donate to NISAPI’s mission:
Forty years ago, we helped facilitate a groundbreaking conference on the Dis-Diseasing of Mental Health, focused on preventing cycles of trauma by addressing context, relationships, and dialogue. This vision led to the creation of Now I See A Person Institute (NISAPI)—a nonprofit research, education, training and clinical institute dedicated to humanizing mental health care and empowering individuals often labeled as “unchangeable.”
Why NISAPI Matters
At NISAPI, we believe that individuals can transcend the labels of severe mental illness. Through Collaborative and Dialogical Practices we help individuals and their support systems heal in ways that challenge traditional mental health narratives. Our approach offers hope, dignity, and freedom, redefining what’s possible for those who have been told there is no hope.
What We Do:
• Research & Advocacy:We focus on the trauma of coercion and global deficiency treatments, advocating for a human-centered approach in mental health care. Recent articles include “Shedding the Limits of Severe Mental Illness Narratives”, “Stories of Wellness”, “Resurrecting Hope”, “When Therapy Heals”, and more.
• Training & Education:NISAPI offers a two-year certificate in Collaborative-Dialogical Practices, Continuing Education for California, and Virtual Learning Modules. As a CAMFT-approved Continuing Education Provider (#135076), we equip clinicians with trauma-informed training to provide more effective, compassionate care.
• Quarterly Conferences & Community Building: Our conferences bring together clinicians, learners, and recovery consultants, offering a platform for challenging mental health practices, fostering genuine dialogue, and building healing relationships.
Why Your Donation is Crucial
Your donation helps NISAPI continue its vital work. Here’s how your support makes a difference:
• Scholarships and Resources: Provide opportunities for clinicians in training and underserved communities.
• Life-Changing Conferences: Enable us to host conferences that challenge mental health paradigms and inspire new attitudes and approaches to care.
• Expand Research & Advocacy: Help us advocate for a more compassionate, human-centered mental health system that embraces individually-tailored healing over labels and rote practices.
Please consider making a donation today. Every contribution directly impacts our ability to continue providing hope, healing, and dignity for individuals who have been marginalized by traditional mental health systems.
